Carved White Marble Sculpture of a Child Writing
A finely carved marble sculpture. Featuring a figural sculpture featuring a young boy seating on a brick wall, a foot on a book. He is leaned over his drawing tablet. The precision of its details, especially of the hair, lend to its distinctive quality. After a model created circa 1795 by Charles-Gabriel Sauvage, also called Lemire. The sculpture is a symbol of Study, and is part of the neoclassic trend that was part of the Napoleonic Empire period.
