Italian Serpentine Figure of the Farnese Hercules
DESCRIPTION
Early 20th century bronze after the famous Farnese Hercules from the Farnese collection. The original antique piece is shown in Naples's museum in Italy. He is represented in his famous attitude leaning on his knobby club which is draped with the pelt of the Nemean lion, and he holds the apples of the Hesperides garden. This handsome bronze demonstrates excellent perspective, proportion and attention to musculature detail with a Fine encrusted patination.
