Exceptional pair of Directoire garden sphinxes of Madame Pompadour and DuBarry (mistresses to Louis XV) often had head likeness depicted on a robed and tasseled body of a sphinx. They are a true pair, facing slightly left and slightly right. Can be used both indoor and outdoor. Have gathered a nice texture and patina. The figures have infinitely charm and grace. These sphinxes are a reinterpretation of the stone ones that are installed in the garden of the castle of Ménars.
