Robert wood foundry, circa 1853 heavy cast iron white painted garden set, which includes six armchairs and a round table. All cast with open foliate c -scrolling backs with lyre-style motif, cabriole legs cast with bell flowers. Each chair is reinforced with cross stretchers. Robert wood foundry, ridge road, Philadelphia, which began production in 1839. Robert wood merged his foundry with Elliston Perot in 1858, and an example of the chair features in their 1858 catalog as number 89.
